This Week’s Picks
✔️ MySQL Query Optimization: Top 3 Tips
#mysql
Follow the tips in this post to help optimize your MySQL queries. For someone such as myself, where query optimization is still a work in progress, I can see where any one of these three tips can become a deep dive of its own with plenty to learn. I definitely need to learn more about MySQL query optimization.
✔️ Why is PHP’s Popularity Decreasing?
#php
There really are some good points in this post and you definitely should read it. I just hope PHP doesn't decline too much because I'm still learning it! 😀
✔️ 12+ Things You MUST DO Before Changing WordPress Themes
#wordpress
I slacked during the holidays. I was supposed to migrate over to a new theme and redesign for my blog, Digital Owl's Prose. Whenever I do get around to it, I'm definitely following the tips in this article by WPBeginner. There is much to think about when changing a theme and this post covers the important points you may not have considered.
✔️ How to Execute Multiple Actions in a Ternary Block — PHP
#php
I use the Ternary Operator in PHP quite often. It is powerful and handy for a sort of 'in-line if'. This post covers some of the do's and don'ts for Ternary Blocks in PHP.
✔️ The Hitchhiker's Guide to SQL Injection prevention
#php #mysql #sql
This article is full of all the information you never heard of or knew about concerning SQL Injection. This is one amazing piece of content and should be bookmarked and within reach at all times when working with PHP and SQL queries.
✔️ Form Validation Example in Codeigniter 4 For Beginners
#codeigniter #php
I can attest first-hand just how powerful and helpful the CodeIgniter 4 form helper library is. I use the form helper library for every form I work with on a CodeIgniter 4 application that I can. This blog post has a nice start-to-finish example of validating form input data in CodeIgniter 4.
✔️5 Reasons Every WordPress Developer Should Blog Consistently
#wordpress
I am not a WordPress developer per se (yet), but I am an avid WordPress user. I run all facets of my own technical blog, Digital Owl's Prose. I am more of a power WordPress user as I have learned what it takes to run a consistent blog (with some design and code tossed in). All that being said, I do keep up with the WordPress ecosystem, and this article definitely struck a chord with me as I am one of the Blogger ilks in general.
✔️The Databases of WordPress – MariaDB
#wordpress #mariadb
Informative article on MariaDB by Reuben Walker of Mobile Atom Media, covering its history, future, along with similarities and differences between it and its predecessor, MySQL. At one time MariaDB was a drop-in replacement for MySQL but they are both very different databases at this time in their development and features.
