Whether we like it or not, there is a high chance that for whatever type of web application you are developing, you're storing data in an SQL database.
And while I don't feel anyone needs to be an expert in SQL, some level of understanding is better than depending solely on whichever ORM you use.
I will say this, the more SQL you know, the better. Even if you don't wind up using 'raw' SQL that much or just ‘offloading’ SQL tasks to an ORM, thinking in SQL is still very powerful.

Modern SQL
When the master speaks, we should listen.
Markus Winand is one of the masters of SQL and has likely forgotten more about the 40+-year-old query language than most will ever learn.
The Modern SQL website is your place to keep up with and learn how to use SQL in modern times.
Using modern features.
I challenge you to read the content on this site. You will definitely learn about SQL at a detailed level and enjoy it at the same time.

Database Star
Ben Brumm writes some of the best SQL content online.
With the in-depth articles and tutorials on the Database Star website, your SQL knowledge and skills will surely grow.
One of the (many) things I like about Database Star is that the majority of the tutorials cover multiple SQL implementations.
Typically Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL are all covered in the same article, whatever the topic, with clear distinctions in differences.

PHP With MySQL & PostgreSQL
The tagline for this site says it all: Help with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Data for PHP Developers.
In other words, you should be visiting this blog because it has a lot of content geared toward PHP developers (and developers in general).
I like this blog for many reasons but one of the main reasons is the content covers a lot of topics that developers don't explore or use too often when it comes to SQL.
This could range from a LATERAL JOIN
to the MySQL Document Store which is available since MySQL v8.

Percona Database Performance Blog
The Percona database blog is the place for all the latest in open-source databases.
You'll discover content about MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
Many of the articles on the Percona blog cover examples of real-world challenges and scenarios from their database engineers in solving customers' database-related issues.
This makes for a nice library of content that is more times than not, applicable to some of the challenges you may be facing as well with performance tuning and database production issues.
