And now, a message from this week’s sponsor. Thank you, Depot for sponsoring the OpenLampTech newsletter!
Depot is a remote container build service hosting BuildKit as a service, the same build engine that backs Docker. We can build Docker images up to 20x faster, thanks to fast persistent caching on NVMe SSDs, 16 CPUs, 32GB of memory, and fast native CPUs for Intel and Arm.
If you’re tired of waiting for slow Docker image builds, check out depot.dev.
OpenLampTech has sponsorship opportunities for your brand, product, or service in the weekly newsletter. As an independent publication, collaboration is very affordable. Przemysław Hernik shared a golden developer interview in the OpenLampTech publication this week.

Good stuff.
Maybe you have guessed already. Or used your incredible math skills and surmised that OpenLampTech issue #104 is a historic event for me and this newsletter.
Yes, OpenLampTech is 2 years old!
Holy shit!
I would be lying to you if I thought for one minute I'd have made it by publishing a newsletter each week for 2 straight years.
I guess I have the discipline, commitment, focus, determination, ritual, blah blah, or whatever else it's called nowadays.
Thinking back to how excited I was when I got to 25 subscribers is likely something I won’t forget.
Now sitting at over (approximately) 845+, it's even harder to comprehend (or forget).
So where will this newsletter take us in the future?
Before getting into that, it's important to visit the past.
Where OpenLampTech started from…
OpenLampTech started as a ‘brain vomit dump’ on the PHP and MySQL code in many of the articles I was reading and saving in a Google Doc on my phone each week.
Now it's evolved more into me summarizing articles focussed on PHP, MySQL, and the LAMP stack. I strive to provide some meaningful context for those articles that I know and have familiarity with the content, along with those pieces I don't. (It's a challenge to do and keep it interesting for readers).
You may be wondering, why MySQL, PHP, and the LAMP stack.
If you think about it, a massive portion of the internet runs on PHP and MySQL in some shape, form, or fashion.
Be that WordPress, Drupal, Laravel, Symfony, [insert your favorite framework here], etc…
Whatever your pleasure (or poison) it's likely some form of the LAMP stack.
I find that fact fascinating.
We are talking about the staples of the internet. Maybe not always the focus, forefront, or sexy development news of the day.
But, PHP and MySQL are silently behind the scenes making button clicks work far and wide across the internet and application land.
So where is OpenLampTech going, moving forward?
Hopefully, in your inbox. 🤣🤣🤣
I will say this. I have learned that operating a newsletter over the long haul can be a lot of work.
I don’t exactly know what the future holds for OpenLampTech. But what I do know is, you can continue to expect great content each week.
Especially in the form of developer interviews.
I love publishing the developer interviews! (Shout-out to everyone who has participated in the past! And to those still to come! And shout-out to me if ya wanna participate.)
Working with and getting to know other developers (somewhat) through the correspondence that takes place, is just one part of the process that I enjoy.
The insightful responses and content are the real cream of the crop.
And that’s what I hope OpenLampTech continues to evolve into; a sounding board for PHP, MySQL, and LAMP stack developers.
I still feel like I have no idea what the hell I am doing with OpenLampTech, week in and week out.
I know that I've learned through publishing OpenLampTech, that as much as I like writing code and writing about code, I also enjoy the media and content surrounding the PHP developer world. But more importantly, what we can learn from all that content and media?
I want to thank you for reading OpenLampTech. You are what truly makes OpenLampTech a success for me.
Next week we will return to the normal curated content.
In the meantime, I'm taking this week for myself to reflect on where OpenLampTech began and more importantly, where it is going.
Stay tuned.
It is gonna be fun…
