Home Office Hacks is a virtual water cooler/newsletter for work-from-home professionals and home-based business owners, published by Joe D’Eramo, a copywriter marketing & PR consultant from Plymouth, Massachusetts.
“Yes, working from home has many benefits—commute, wardrobe, optional bathing, etc. You do tend to feel like you’re missing out on things. Best coffee? Latest productivity app? Where to shop for a new (fill in the blank). My Home Office Hacks looks to provide the info you used to get in the lunchroom when you had a traditional J-O-B.”

While equality and inequality filter conditions are very common, many times you wish to filter the FROM
clause table rows based on values that are less than or greater than another value. MySQL (and SQL in general) supports the less than (<) and greater than (>) operators. Continue reading and see examples of each…

How to Create and Use Helper function in CodeIgniter 4
By: Yogesh Singh (Makitweb)
#php #codeigniter
I'm definitely a CI4 guy and one of the many many things I like about the framework is not only the built-in helper functions but also how easy it is to create your own.
Learn how to make a customer helper function, where to store it in the CodeIgniter application structure, and how to use it.

How to Rapidly Test Websites With PHP’s Built-In Web Server
By: James Walker
#php
Unbeknownst to me, PHP has its own web server built right in. However, it is not advised for production environments. Find out in this article how to start up the web server and test your PHP-based website.
Create a MySQL Database on Linux via Command Line
By: Ronald Caldwell (Liquid Web)
#mysql #linux
We take it for granted (myself included) how easy and convenient it is to point and click with tools like MySQL Workbench and phpMyAdmin when creating a MySQL Database.
However, in the event that those (or similar) GUI environments are not available, you would need to use the command line.
Follow along with this article to learn how.
Adminer – A Full-Featured MySQL Database Management Tool
By: James Kiarie
#mysql
I swear I installed Adminer one time a good long piece ago on one of my WordPress sites. But, for the life of me, I just don't remember that much about it.
According to my interpretation, Adminer used to be phpMyAdmin. 🤔
Anyways, aside from my confusion, this article has a nice step-by-step guide on installing and setting up Adminer. You'll need a LAMP stack to run it.

MySQL’s UTF-8 Isn’t Real
By: Arctype
#mysql
To my shame, I honestly never really think about character sets and encodings when creating databases for the backend systems and internal reporting dashboard applications I build.
However, I always learn something from the Arctype content and in this post, I gained more understanding overall about UTF-8.
One attractive section in this article is the utf8 vs. utf8mb4 breakdown.
Summarizing this breakdown:
UTF-8 doesn’t have full Unicode support,
UTF-8 encoding needs at least 4 bytes per character.
MySQL UTF-8 provides 3 bytes per character.
