I’ve written in a previous article about how you can implement a 3-day shipping notice on the WooCommerce Checkout Page. Suppose for example, the online store is a Monday through Friday operation, and should a customer place an order on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, then display a shipping date for Monday. However, any order placed on the weekdays Monday through Thursday would display a message for shipping the next day.
All commentary is by me unless otherwise quoted.
Everything You Need To Know About WooCommerce Shortcodes
WooCommerce provides specific shortcodes which create and displays dynamic data and page structure for an e-Commerce store. Shortcode functionality is enabled on the post or page using a handler function consisting of text and optional parameters placed between square brackets such as: [my_shortcode]
. More WooCommerce-specific shortcodes can be found on the online documentation page.
5 Tips and Tricks for working with the Laravel HTTP Client
Working with APIs is table stakes these days in application development. Everything has an API it seems. Laravel makes it much easier to work with APIs by using its built-in HTTP client, a wrapper class for the HTTP Guzzle library. There are plenty of dedicated methods to streamline API calls.
SQL DELETE Statement - The Complete Guide
The SQL DELETE
statement is one powerful Data Manipulation Language (DML) command. DELETE
completely removes rows from a table, without warning.
In this deep dive covering several SQL implementations' DELETE
statements, SQL expert Ben Brumm shares detailed explanations and examples of different DELETE
statements.

The elePHPant in the room: Wordpress
Is PHP still here?
What?!?
Do you mean, PHP isn't dead?
Not by a long shot. And, the truth of the matter is, PHP is thriving and doing well.
Even though PHP's use and popularity are attributed in large part to WordPress, PHP is the base for many other frameworks and CMSs. Find a comfortable spot and something refreshing to drink before you read this Magnus opus. Good stuff.
Quick and easy local WordPress development with wp-env
Sign me up for any local WordPress development environment that eases the pain of the oftentimes complex process. I've really come to like Local a lot and use it for all of my WooCommerce blogging content code source(s) and learning.
The whole MAMP/WAMP/XAMPP can be either meh or a hardcore chore depending a lot on the OS. As a new(er) Mac owner/user, MAMP was pretty painless to set up for local LAMP stack development.
However, I'm definitely keeping my eyes on wp-env
as I haven't used it yet for local WordPress development but it sure looks promising. However, be aware using wp-env
will require you to use terminal commands and have (or install) Docker and NPM.

Laravel vs. CodeIgniter: A comparison of Best PHP frameworks
I can only attest to experience with CodeIgniter but Laravel is one of the most popular powerhouses in the PHP development world. Both frameworks follow the Model View Controller (MVC) programming design pattern and come with tons of features built right into their respective frameworks.
CodeIgniter has a smaller footprint while Laravel provides a dedicated ORM with Eloquent. Both frameworks have their own developer crowd(s) but on the same token, can deliver robust web applications in a fraction of the amount of time needed.
