In this blog post, we will see how to display some additional information on the Shop/Archive/Category page using WooCommerce hooks and good ole PHP. I saw a question similar to this asked recently in a WooCommerce Facebook group and thought to try my hand at a working solution. Here is what I learned and came up with…
All commentary is by me unless otherwise quoted.
I've not personally had to work with a PHP SoapClient (yet) so my comments will be limited from an experience standpoint. However, I really like and appreciate these types of documents as you learn articles. Which is pretty much the driving factor behind my own blogging and writing.
Once again, WordPress and WooCommerce developer Igor Benić provides code samples with easily digestible explanations throughout this article.

Solving WordPress Performance Problems
A slow or bogged-down WordPress website is bad for a whole host of reasons and could definitely be costing you. There are many reasons why a WordPress site could be running less than optimal. There are some plugins that you can use to help figure out where the performance breakdown is. There are plenty of tips and suggestions with information in this piece you can use to diagnose these sites.
Viewing MySQL Document Store Queries in MySQL Database Services
MySQL Document Store is one of those game changers that I think don't get enough credit for. For a while, after MySQL v8 was first released, I wrote a good bit of content on MySQL Shell and its Python and SQL modes. Having built-in programming languages and a JSON Document API with dedicated CRUD functionality opens up new doors for developers. I aim to get back to exploring these areas of MySQL and am inspired by content like this.
How to Use Sublime Text for WordPress Development
Sublime Text is my absolute favorite text editor.
Why?
Well, honestly, I haven't found another one that has Vim keybindings that are quite as close to the native Vim found in Linux systems. See, I'm handcuffed (or happily using) with Vim keybindings for all of my coding text editing needs. I love them.
I use various add-on packages for WordPress and PHP code snippets completions in my setup.
25 PERFECT AI Prompts for PHP Developers
I'm still a bit leery about the whole ChatGPT and similar AI tools. I think everyone would be better off remembering they are just tools and not end-all solutions.
Admittedly, I've been using ChatGPT prompts as more of a study aid for various concepts along with using it to help me make article outlines that I later fill in.
Many of these prompts are fantastic uses of AI, covering learning concepts for PHP developers.
Replace Raw Query Calls With Laravel Query Expressions
It seems to me that Laravel has so many packages in its ecosystem that it's dizzying trying to keep up. But, that's okay because not every project needs every package available.
One place I see Laravel way ahead is how the framework works with SQL. This is one such package that offers even more levels of abstraction for specific SQL implementations differences in the SQL that particular flavor supports or uses.

WordPress and WooCommerce SQL VIEWs
WordPress, and therefore WooCommerce, store data in a MySQL or MariaDB database. The WordPress database schema is quite involved. An SQL VIEW
is a named stored query and I've wondered at times if WordPress developers or other technical professionals use VIEW
s. Apparently so. VIEW
s are a great option for reusable complex queries. I can imagine a lot of reporting WooCommerce requests that are run each month would be great candidates for an SQL VIEW
.
