A Brief DevOps History: Databases to Infinity and Beyond
We all (at some point or another) take the database for granted. The database is the drummer of the band. Old reliable itself. As is pointed out in this article, the database was invented long before many of us were born. There is an interesting 'history story' in this piece about the relational database. [The New Stack]
The Future Of Open-Source Enterprise Linux And Community Collaboration
There are a lot of big shakers involved in enterprise-grade Linux. With Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) likely being the most prominent. CentOS, an RHEL community derivative, underwent massive licensing changes in the recent past that have stirred the pot even more. This article goes deeper into what is shaping up for enterprise-grade Linux. [Forbes]
Streamline the SQL Code: Guide to pgFormatter
I'm the world's worst at writing formatted SQL code. SQL readability should be a first thought, especially in a script that I plan to revisit at some point in the future. Honestly, I started out well. My SELECT
and FROM
clauses are capitalized and structured. But, by the time I get to the end of my statement, the ORDER BY
clause is lowercase and may be on the same line as the previous clause. This is where pgFormatter saves the day. [Percona]
Oracle, SUSE and others caught up in RHEL drama hit back with OpenELA
One of OpenELA's main purposes is to offer free and open Enterprise Linux. Apparently, anyone is welcome. Even freeloaders as is quoted in this piece. IMHO, the whole open-source Linux licensing is a bungle too complicated for my pea-brain to unravel. As web developers, there is a high chance that some of the applications and websites we build run on open-source Linux. So it's definitely worth paying attention to. [The A Register]
Top Trends and Best Practices in Drupal Development Services

Many personal blogs and corporate portals are built with Drupal. If you're looking for a checklist of the latest Drupal development trends, this article is a good place to start. [Film Daily]
Drupal 7 End of Life Officially Announced for 5 January 2025
It seems odd to me that there are still sites running on Drupal 7. But, I suppose a massive site migration gets put off as long as possible. If your site is on Drupal 7, it's time to migrate. January will be here before you know it. This article has information about specific help docs for those migrating from Drupal 7 to an updated version (Drupal 10 at this time). [PRWeb]
