Text-based developer interviews are becoming my personal favorite content pieces here in OpenLampTech. I've got yet another fantastic developer interview recently published with Nico Verbruggen.

Data Transfer Objects in Laravel - Why and How
As quoted in this fantastic article: "The main purpose of a DTO is to decouple the different layers or components of a software system, allowing them to communicate and exchange data without needing to know the details of each other's implementation."
I think the key concept of a Data Transfer Object (DTO), is that other interacting pieces of the system, don't need to know its implementation. Learn more about Wendell Adriel in this OpenLampTech developer interview. [wendelladriel.com]
Exploring Adminer: The Single-Page PHP SQL Management Tool
I've mostly cut my teeth on MySQL Workbench and phpMyAdmin for MySQL/MariaDB database management needs. However, Adminer needs some attention and mentioning as well. One key "leg up" Adminer has is that it can work with multiple SQL vendors' implementations (PostgreSQL, SQLite, MS SQL, Oracle… to name a few). [Medium]
5 open source companies that shape the way we experience the Internet
I'm all about open-source software and companies. I envision it in a way that you couldn't throw a digital rock without hitting a piece of open-source software. Surprisingly, (or not - once you think about it) 2 WordPress companies are on this list. Which just goes to show how big and impactful WordPress is. [The Nation]
Website served password-stealing Linux malware for 3 years
We all have to be careful on the internet. You never know what is going on behind the scenes. What makes this even worse to me is that it went on for 3 years. But, we normally think that downloading free Linux is okay. Not so much the story here. Unfortunately. [MyBroadBand]
MySQL vs Oracle: which database is right for you?
Both! Lol. I'm not sure if that's correct. I use both MySQL and Oracle. Each RDBMS has its strengths. While Oracle is more robust, feature-wise, MySQL is no slouch. And, continues to improve with each release. With MySQL v8, the database really set itself as a main contender in the market. MySQL is one of the core/key components of the LAMP stack. [Bolly Inside]
MariaDB Receives Buyout Proposal From Runa Capital II; Shares Rise
I'm not a stock or 'market' type of guy. I can barely keep up (or really care to - for that matter) with my local scene. However, it seems like publicly traded companies are sometimes acquired. I'm not 100% sure on this one and we will see as it unfolds. Perhaps MariaDB is about to be purchased. [marketscreener.com]
