WordPress showcasing the hidden sunset of web and digital
I understand and agree that WordPress does have the majority of the CMS market share. Yet, how much of that segment are old, stale sites?
Or does that even matter? This may be the more important question.
Quote from the source article:
“Despite my passion and commitment to open source, hosted SaaS are growing and raising funds because they solve real problems for large TAM.”
PHP Traits: The Secret Sauce for Cleaner, Reusable Code
I haven't used Traits in any of the legacy code bases I work in. I do like the idea that they help get around single inheritance.
Quote from the source article:
“Welcome to the world of PHP Traits. They’re like the cheat code for code reuse—elegant, flexible, and designed to solve a problem inheritance just can’t handle on its own.”

Local WordPress with Herd, DBngin, and WP-CLI
I've mostly used LocalWP for any local WordPress exploratory development and setup is a breeze. I don't see a need (for myself) to spin up a complex WordPress development environment. However, I'm sure there are specific cases where it is preferred.
Quote from the source article:
“Okay, so recently I’ve been messing around with Larival Herd, which is a tool for kind of local PHP development. It’s kind of a whole PHP local environment.”

Importing 1.7 billion rows of CSV data from Stripe with PHP
Wow.
That should prove in and of itself that PHP is quite capable as a language. (But, it's dead too, remember? 😉)
Quote from the source article:
“These days, it can handle absolutely massive files, some of which are close to 4,000,000 rows of data and I suspect these files will keep getting bigger and bigger.”
[Jon Purvis]
I'm not a Laravel developer and work mostly with vanilla PHP, some CodeIgniter, and some WordPress. Like it or hate it, but there's no denying Laravel's impact and dominance in the PHP ecosystem.
Quote from the source article:
“Laravel introduced fresh ideas like Eloquent ORM and a streamlined approach to routing, along with a focus on clear, consistent syntax that would lower the barrier to entry for junior developers while still satisfying the needs of more experienced programmers.”

Saw this on Reddit and wanted to share it with the OpenLampTech readers.
GitHub page description quoted here:
“A package manager written in PHP that supports installing dependencies from GitHub, npm, custom URLs, and local file paths.”
