Developer survey shows trust in AI coding tools is falling as usage rises
I can certainly believe this. I'm not using a diverse set of AI tools. My employer pays for the paid version of ChatGPT, so that's where most of my experience lies.
However, there are times when it can't correctly create a comma-separated list of (?) placeholders for a query for me.
I ask for 10. I get 9 lol.
MariaDB Community Server 12.0 Released As GA With Greater Oracle Compatibility
MariaDB continues to evolve as a viable open-source database.
This release focused on better migrations from Oracle databases.
Version 12.0 brings support for Oracle's native SYS_REFCURSOR, triggers, and other compatibility.
The Vibe-Coder's Guide to WordPress Development
I feel like WordPress setup and site building have become more streamlined, with many hosting providers offering 1-click installers.
However, that's where it stops.
You still have to ‘do these X things for a live site’, install a theme and/or page builder, etc.
Development itself is another animal all its own.
I learned a whole lot here recently when I developed a custom plugin for my employer's website, but I am far from a pro.
I wouldn't say I vibe-coded, but I did utilize AI.
What is the N+1 Query Problem and How to Solve it?
“It’s not a bug. It’s not an error. It’s a pattern. And it’s quietly eating your performance.”
That quote alone taught me more than I thought I knew about N+1 query issues.
There are numerous reasons why this pattern winds up in an application, and this insightful article covers many of them.
“This project is a PHP SDK, which will eventually be installable as a Composer package. In WordPress, it could be bundled in plugins. It is however not a plugin itself.”
This looks promising, and I wanted to share it with OpenLampTech readers.
One of the big disconnects for me, where AI is concerned, is how to use it effectively outside of its native domain (outside of ChatGPT, for example).
