Below is the content I am sharing I enjoyed this week:
How Symfony components power Drupal’s drive to new frontiers
(symfonystation.com)
#php #drupal #symfony
My thoughts: Reuben Walker has written another masterpiece of an article. This one sees detailing the relationship(s) between 2 powerhouses in the PHP web development sphere: Symfony and Drupal.
Mixing (probably a less-than-ideal choice of word on my part) Symfony components with Drupal allows Drupal developers a different view and learning experience in the world of Symfony PHP code.
Plus, Symfony code is written, tested, and maintained by a robust developer community, therefore, saving Drupal developers time on common application code and tasks.

Best SQL Editors
(bollyinside.com)
#sql #database
My thoughts: I have to do better personally and get out of the mindset (and exposure) of just the trifecta of SQL editors I am familiar with: phpMyAdmin, SQL Developer, and MySQL Workbench.
Other options that have piqued my interest from this article are:
Adminer: Provides several customization options.
Postico: Mac-only SQL editor for PostgreSQL.
SQuirrel SQL: Open-source SQL editor capable of running on any JVM-supported architecture.
What is your favorite SQL editor for working with SQL?

6 Factors to Consider While Using WooCommerce Payment Gateways for your Ecommerce Store
(uniquenewsonline.com)
#wordpress #woocommerce #eCommerce
My thoughts: I had better learn how to manage and operate a WooCommerce shop because one day, I plan to have my own online bass fishing e-Commerce store in conjunction with my niche bass fishing website.
I'm doubling down on studying these topics about Payment Gateways as covered in the article:
Transaction cost
Currency options (local as well as multilingual)
Onboarding Integration
WooCommerce compatibility
Responsiveness on all screen sizes
Share with me your ultimate WooCommerce checklist for beginners if you have any suggestions for newbies. Many thanks 🙏.

Laravel 9: MySQL Database Query Tip Sheet #1
(medium.com)
#php #laravel #database #sql
My thoughts: Laravel's Eloquent ORM and query builder makes working with databases through a single API easier for developers who use this powerful framework for PHP web development projects.
There also exist dedicated Raw SQL CRUD methods for common application interactions with the SQL database:
Create -
DB::insert("sql query")
Read -
DB::select("sql query")
Update -
DB::update("sql query")
Delete -
DB::delete("sql query")
These methods support parameterized queries with placeholders using the (standard) ?
, accepting an array of values to bind to the statement as a 2nd argument in the function call(s).

LiveCanvas: the Zero-bloat Page Builder for WordPress to Create Faster Webpages That Achieve Better SEO Results
(thenewsfront.com)
#wordpress
My thoughts: Throw tomatoes at me if you like. However, for the time being, I'm sticking with page builders instead of going all-in on ‘Site Editing’ for WordPress. At this time, page builders are easier for me to learn and work with.
This paragraph (quoted directly) from the article, caught my attention:
"The idea behind LiveCanvas is to minimise bloat, saving plain HTML inside the post_content field. This results in zero customer lock-in and no need for caching plugins to load your homepage at blazing speeds."
Not to be too abrasive, but I know page builders in WordPress are a dime a dozen - albeit there are some good ones out there. I think LiveCanvas is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Drupal 10 launched: taking content editing to the next level with CKEditor 5
(ckeditor.com)
#drupal #cms
My thoughts: What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editors are powerful pieces of software that CMS systems use to create and format content. As of Drupal 10, the CKEditor 5 is the default editor for the powerhouse Digital Experience Platform (DXP).
Some of the (many) upgrades and improvements to CKEditor 5 as covered in the article are:
A new and more modern user interface
Better workflow for embedded media
More streamlined experience for working with table data
Markdown shortcodes for content formatting
CKEditor 5 Premium editions also offer real-time collaboration support which is definitely a game changer for the editors' user base.
