OpenLampTech continues to grow and I'm discovering more and more that I enjoy both the process and publishing of text-based developer interviews in the publication. Keep an eye on your inbox for more of them in the future.
Speaking of, I've published another fantastic developer interview this week that is inspiring and a great read. Enjoy this one folks:

Mastering Type Hinting in Laravel: A Comprehensive Guide
Asfia Aiman shares information and examples of type hinting in Laravel. Type hinting provides many benefits, 2 of which are code readability and mitigating the potential for bugs. Learn more about Asfia in this OpenLampTech developer interview. [Medium]
Optimizing SQL queries using SARGable queries
I first learned about SARGable SQL queries in the phenomenal book, SQL Performance Explained by Markus Winand. It's included in the OpenLampTech article, 5 SQL Books That Will Make You A Pro. In this piece, there are some examples of how to make a query - in particular, filtering in the WHERE
clause - more SARGable. SARGable queries can often take advantage of indexes, making for more performant queries. [Medium]
How To Automate Abandoned Cart Recovery On Your WooCommerce Store.
I'm just as guilty of "window shopping" (as I like to call it) as anyone buying from online e-commerce stores. Cart abandonment is a big pain point for WooCommerce (and other e-commerce solutions) store owners and is best handled with some form of auto-responder to try and win the customer back to complete the purchase. This is an in-depth guide to help get you started. [WP Mayor]
UNIX vs Linux: What's the Difference?
From licensing to how their kernel operates, there are big differences between these 2 powerhouse operating systems. I honestly had no idea there were in the licensing area. I'm not that familiar with most of the UNIX flavors but have tried and used many of the Linux distros over the years. This article is a nice deep dive into many of the differences between UNIX and Linux. [The Linux Journal]
CodeIgniter v4.3.8 and v4.4.0 Released (August 25th, 2023)
My favorite powerful PHP framework has several new small(er) features that make a big impact. Those that caught my eye are:
Additional spark commands for routes
MySQLi database enhancements
Special getter/setter in the Model to help avoid method name clashing

PHP 8.2: A Glimpse into the Future of Web Development
I do my best to keep a finger on the pulse of PHP but I know I can't always stay up to date on it. PHP is steadily improving and I'm impressed most after reading this article about the Foreign Function Interface (FFI). Yeah, to all the haters out there, PHP is far from dead and it keeps getting better and better. [Medium]
